Welcome to my Personal Photography Website!

My name is Mark Edwards and I’m a photographer based in Los Angeles. Growing up in Virginia, loving movies and t.v. from the 1980’s, I found myself captivated by films like Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Conan the Barbarian, and Blade Runner. I moved to southern California in the late 90s to pursue a career in film and landed my first role working for James Cameron onTitanic, which resulted in 15 wonderful years of working in post production/visual effects, plus a brief tour as an Imperial Stormtrooper from the Star Wars franchise (for the Mandalorian and the Obi Wan Kenobi shows on Disney Plus.)

Today I am a full-time photographer specializing in Live event, Portraits, and Company Branding in the Entertainment Industry ( I have a different website for that)

This is the personal side of my photography.

I grew up on movies, television, movie posters, practical effects, comic books, and all the wonderfully strange stuff that came with being a kid in the 70s and 80s. Apparently, a lot of it never really left.

So this is where I put the photography that comes from that part of my brain.

You’ll find personal projects, collaborations with friends, costumes, characters, movie inspired shoots, lighting experiments, some of my published/printed work, and ideas that usually begin with something like, “You know what would be cool?”

Sometimes the idea comes from an old movie I love. Sometimes it is a costume, a location, a piece of artwork, or just an image I cannot quite get out of my head.

Then I find a few equally enthusiastic people who are willing to go along with it, and we make something.

This work is mostly separate from my professional client and commercial photography. This is the stuff I shoot because I enjoy it.

Photography with a few nerdy ideas, good people, and seeing what happens.
